Cardiovascular Research | Dr. Boucek was awarded his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame and his MD and an MS in Biochemistry from Tulane. He received his post-doctoral training in Pediatrics at Duke University and a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology and Biochemistry at Vanderbilt University. He joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, advancing to the position of Professor. He developed their first Pediatric Transplant Program. In 1993, he joined the faculty of the University of South Florida (USF) as Professor and Chief of Pediatric Cardiology and an affiliated member of PCA. He is Program Director for the new USF/All Children's Heart Transplant and Research Program, in affiliation with PCA. In addition to his clinical and teaching responsibilities, he serves on the Institutional Review Board for protection of human subjects at All Children's Hospital. He is active in basic and clinical research related to the diagnosis and advanced treatments for cardiomyopathies, echocardiographic assessment of ventricular function and cardiac transplantation in newborn and children with lethal forms of congenital heart disease. He is a funded investigator of the American Heart Association and is a member of the American Heart Association's Peer Review Committee (IB). He is the proud father of three children.
