Dr. Edwards is a native of Missouri. He graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri with a degree in Biology with Honors. He received his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1984. Pediatric residency was completed at the University of Tennessee-Memphis and cardiology fellowship at the University of Minnesota in 1990.

Upon completion of fellowship, Dr. Edwards was Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Mississippi where he wrote several peer review articles and received numerous grants. He and his family moved to Tampa in 1993.

Dr. Edwards’ clinical interests include general cardiology and echocardiography.

Currently Dr. Edwards is Medical Director of Cardiology at Tampa Children's Hospital and involved in the planning of the new Pediatric Heart Center at Tampa Children's Hospital.
