| Jorge M. Giroud, MD, FACC | Invasive CardiologyAffiliate Associate Professor Pediatrics, USF | Dr. Giroud was born in Cuba and came to the United States as a young child. He graduated from medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. He completed his pediatric residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami, in Miami, FL. Following a brief period as a general pediatrician in the United States Navy, he returned to Miami where he completed both a Pediatric Cardiology, as well as a Pediatric Critical Care fellowship. Dr. Giroud initially obtained board certification in both areas and currently is board certified in Pediatric Cardiology. Dr. Giroud has been practicing pediatric cardiology in the Tampa Bay Area since 1983. He has been instrumental in the development of Pediatric Interventional Cardiology for the region, allowing many cardiac defects to be improved or corrected without the need for surgical interventions.In addition to invasive cardiology, Dr. Giroud's interests include public health policy, the application of computer technology to the practice of medicine and acting as an advocate for the rights of quality medical care for children with heart disease. He has served as chairman for the Cardiac Advisory Council for Children's Medical Services and also is a past President of the Florida Association of Pediatric Cardiologists. | |
