Dr. McCormack was born in Cuba and raised in Puerto Rico.

After graduating from University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, he performed his pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine. It was here that his interests in Pediatric Cardiology and, in particular, electrophysiology developed. He was recipient of a NIH Research Training award, which sponsored his research in developmental electrophysiology during his fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Miami. His research work earned third place in the American Academy of Pediatrics Young Investigators Award.

After completion of his training in Pediatric Cardiology, he went to Loma Linda University, becoming a member of Pediatric Cardiac transplant program while researching transplant electrophysiology. In 1992, he moved to the Tampa Bay area and participated in the creation of a Pediatric Heart Transplant program at All Children's Hospital. He also developed a Pediatric Electrophysiology Program at Tampa General and, more recently, at Tampa Children's Hospital and All Children's Hospital. His practice is dedicated to Pediatric Electrophysiology including the management of arrhythmias, pacemakers and syncope.

He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the practice.
