Victor O. Morell, M.D.

CURRICULUM VITAE  

 

Dr. Morell received his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and his medical degree from the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico.  After graduating medical school in 1988, he then completed a five- year residency in General Surgery at Robert Packer Hospital-Guthrie Clinic in Pennsylvania followed by a three-year residency in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Massachusetts-Medical Center.  During his time spent at the University of Massachusetts, he had additional training in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery at the Boston Children’s Hospital.  Dr. Morell spent an additional year in England training in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.  Dr. Morell performed pediatric surgery at the Tampa Children’s Hospital at St. Joseph in Tampa and at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.  He was the Chief of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery of the Tampa Children’s Hospital and Medical Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.  He spends his leisure time with his family.  In June of 2004, Dr. Morell moved to Pittsburgh where he is now Chief of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
